Luna, 27yo, animancer (soul magic user, able to channels souls on a condition).
When channeling her appearance resembles the channeled.
Not only can she conduit souls to which she has such a contract, she can also control enemy souls
felled in combat and turn them in her favor, she can both use this ability for combat means or she
can release the souls of their suffering, the souls however can choose to remain at her side,
meaning they would serve her in other future battles.
They grew up together like brother and sister, she was a couple months older, Luna's parents asked
the Song family to take care of her as they had to "leave for an important task", to this day, we
don't know what the task was or when they would be back- or if they are even alive still.
From a young age, the two of them liked to practice sparring together, Luna also used it as an
opportunity to improve her healing abilities on Yuè whenever he got bruised or anything of the
sort.
While Luna is prefers to stick to her magic, specifically healing, after spending so much time
sparring with Yuè she became quite the melee fighter too, being considered no slacker in that form
of combat.
As Yuè hated anything related to learning, he often leaned on Luna's eagerness to always be on top
of her studies and had her teach him the materials he couldn't focus properly on during the school
time, she of course loved to do so, as she could not only keep the topics fresher in her mind, but
also call it a reward for Yuè for all the sparring training she got with him.
During one of his escapades with his group one time when he was 17, Yuè took a blow directly to his
left horn, shattering it in half.
At 18, Yuè's parents told Luna something her parents left behind, a key to her old family estate,
into which she and Yuè moved into shortly after.
It was here she saw a photo of her parents for the first time, as she had never actually seen them
before, considering the only memories she had of that early in her life had both parents as hooded
figures.
At around 20, after running into some old tomes she found in her basement, Luna started to study the
soul and its magic properties (Animancy, anima=soul in latin, therefore soul magic), as a result of
that, she learned that she was able to summon fourth souls that didn't want to pass over to the
"other side" for combat means.
By this time, Yuè had enlisted in the realm's mighty army, and was steadily climbing the ranks
alongside some of his old peers from back in the school times, although he too had taken an interest
in this old tomes, particularly a part close to the end (he was just browsing the book looking for
images at first) where it was mentioned a soul could be offered to a user of this school of magic
instead of having to fall in combat.
There was a war that broke out right when Luna turned 22, Yuè (who was still 21) was deployed to the
frontlines alongside the squad he commanded, Luna was deployed as a combat-medic due to her ever
improving healing abilities.
The war raged on for months, Yuè leading his squad to many decisive wins.
On what was considered the last battle, Yuè took a hemomancer's spell to the heart and was too
wounded everywhere else to be able to endure the damage.
Luna was tending to other soldiers at the time, but having heard of this, she rushed to the
frontlines to try and save her best friend.
Sadly, as she wasn't close enough to him she couldn't get there in time before the enemy
hemomancer's spell had done far too much damage for her healing powers to heal Yuè's wounds in full,
meaning she could only prolong his life for enough time for him to remember the passing he read in
her tomes, offering his soul to her in the way of a contract- this way, his soul would live on and
be able to be channeled via Luna's Animancy, though she didn't know how to do it just yet, as she
had only read about that part recently and hadn't had the chance to investigate it further.
After making this contract, in the very moment he passed and her own soul lit up like a flare with
his strength.
Something burned up inside her as her tattoo lit up, the slurry of agony, sadness, grief, anger
inside her all came to the surface, even though she was usually a very well composed person usually,
this time it was all too much for her; with an ear-piercing shout, her whole body lit up in a bright
purple flare as her physical appearance started to morph into that of her fallen best friend, her
staff too started to transform into a sword, as if it knew she wouldn't need her magics but
something more drastic at the time.
This had been the first time she channeled Yuè's soul. The transformation didn't last too long, just
long enough for her to get revenge on his killer with her newly transformed sword as well as Yuè's
own blade, all people could see after the bright purple flash was that Luna's appearance change into
one resembling the just deceased Yuè, his scales, horns and tail for one were clearly
visible, as well as the light part of her tattoo.
After the transformation subsided, it was almost like she could feel his soul hovering over her own,
keeping her safe and watching over her- ready to strike at any moment whenever she needed the extra
push or strength.
Since the end of that war she adventured far and wide to try and learn as much as she could about
the soul from other regions of the world, learning to control her channeling in the process.
Luna now uses her Animancy as well as generic elemental spells through her staff as well as Yuè's
old sword.
She can still heal as well, and as a result of her advancements in Animancy, she can also heal the
soul of any ailments or burdens.
While she can channel a soul unto herself if she has a contract with the person from the moment of
their death and command fallen souls as fighters in combat, she has not found a way to channel a
soul (be one of her contracts or not) into another living or otherwise vessel, no matter who or what
it may be- but she made it her life's research to find a way to do just so, if only Animancy wasn't
such a rare school of magic.
She was always curious about a mark she's had in her right arm since birth, never really knowing how
it got there until she stumbled onto an old book her mother left for her in the deeper parts of
their basement, the part she only found out existed by accident once while cleaning the other magic
and encantation related books.
Next to this book she found the staff she currently holds, from the moment she found it she could
feel that it was attuned to her magic essence somehow even though she had never seen it before, as
for the book, while cryptic, talked about the magic properties of the soul and how one could begin
their studies of it, one could never imagine the amount of power their own soul can carry let alone
managing how to let that potential out in combat.
She still thinks about what happened to her actual parents, even more so now that Yuè is no longer
around.
